arin's attic ...step into my parlor

dropped off the face of the earth?  no.

ok, i’ve managed to ~completely~ change up arinsattic.com.  i’ve some weird pink obsession at the moment and decided to redo the site to reflect it, so i’ve spent most of my time playing around with different layouts, colours, etc to finally realize that i liked the layout i had for the most part!  so just a few changes here or there and ... ~pink~ smile

further proof of my pink obsession?

i am pink!!

books, blankets and other babbling…

Medium Image  been awhile, hey?  been busy!  doing… a buncha nothing!  sorta smile  finished reading harry potter’s last book and OMG, that was awesome :D talk about your twists and turns, i was cryin’ at the end :o i’m not quite the harry potter fanatic that i used to be, but i still enjoy the books regardless!

next up on my reading list: the clash of civilizations and the remaking of the world order by samuel p huntington.  i’m told everyone should read this book, and ... i’m everyone!  or… something like that :|

finally finished the baby afghan i was working on and i’ll get a picture of that as soon as i decide what to put with it.  lil stuffed aminal or something similar, i’m thinking.  in the meantime, using up the skeins of purple that i had to make yet ~another~ afghan.  i expect that will be a gift tho smile

watched “a history of disbelief” and “the god delusion” today.  have to say, i’m wanting to read dawkin’s book, the god delusion, now.  it was really an excellent program.

hrm, other news?  i have pink hair!!!  the photos came out crappy, but my camera batteries died :(  no.  i did NOT break the camera >:|  ok… maybe :(

other’n afghans and reading and watchin’ movies, i needa get busy and get my craft room sorted out and some errands run and apply for a couple more jobs.  we’ll see how that goes :o   ~wish me luck~

and away we go!

got started on the unfinished blankie… had to remember which pattern i was using and where i’d left off in it :o considering it’s been a good 2.5 or 3 years since i last crocheted, it came back pretty quickly once i sat down to work on it, so this bodes well! i may actually get it finished!  i’m over halfway done, so shouldn’t be but a day or two depending upon how much i work at it. i’d forgotten how relaxing it can be smile  worst thing about this particular blanket is all the colour switching :s all those loose ends flapping around :|  i’ll fix that once i get to the edging, tho.

anyways, here tis ~in progress~

ramblin’ ramblin’ ramblin’

i pulled out all my crochet stuff over the weekend.  several unfinished projects that i’m considering actually finishing :o baby blankets that were for a gift, tho the intended giftee never gave me their address.  another afghan that was for my ex-sister-in-law - you do my bro badly and i lose all motivation to finish your gifts.  i’m weird that way.  SO, now i’m pondering finishing these and putting them up for sale.  my baby hoodies used to sell well, as did the dolls i used to make.  i’d really like to do some more thread crochet, too.  while i have the eyesight to do it, i should get back to that!  which reminds me, i need to schedule an eye appt, so they can monitor the tears in my retina :|  no retinal detachments for me, kthx.

baby hoodie made for a coworker.  pity i didn’t have a better way to display it, but i was rushing out of the house to get it to ‘em.  baby hoodie = lil blankie for newborns, complete with hood

added some photos of houston to the gallery. some came out well, some not so.  i do love the houston skyline and driving downtown on a sunday, there’s ~no one~ around.  most shots were me sticking my arm out the window and snapping a photo, thus their not coming out so well :|  like this one:

i feel the need for a daytrip soon, so maybe i’ll catch some more photos… and better ones.

in the meantime, off to walk the puppy.

Quotes I like

"extend that logic, and we eventually have to decide that no one can understand anyone. maybe the matter of understanding has been overrated. maybe i don’t have to understand your situation to sympathize with it, to help you alter it, to be on your side. i’ve never experienced starvation either, but i’m opposed to it. when i encounter it, i try to alleviate it. i sympathize with its victims. the question of whether i understand it doesn’t arise. ... maybe civilization is possible, if at all, only because people can care about conditions they haven’t experienced. maybe you need understanding like a fish needs a bicycle." - spenser for hire
