mccain for president?

first, i completely understand why john mccain might feel the way he does, having been a prisoner of war and having been tortured.  in his shoes, i’m sure i’d be subjective in my feelings as well.  i’d like to think that i’d be able to overcome the issues, but i’m in no way fooling myself, i probably wouldn’t be able to.  that said… i find it completely unacceptable that we could possibly have a president who would make these types of statements.  the president is required to represent all of the nation.  our nation includes asians who find the term “gooks” offensive, as they should.  he’s also required to deal with foreign entities in a rational, objective manner, which this type of thing brings into question… “could he?”

``I hate the gooks,’’ McCain said yesterday in response to a question from reporters aboard his campaign bus. ``I will hate them as long as I live.’’

tell me what i think before i implode!

i’ve heard democrats and republicans alike who have said they would support a mccain presidency.  they view him as honest.  a man with integrity.  someone with common sense that can be reasoned with.  and i just honestly do not understand where they get that from.  mccain is far too conservative for me, to start with.  then there’s things like this story, where mccain is asked his opinion on taxpayer subsidized condoms for hiv prevention in africa (while aboard his “straight talk express” tour bus no less)...

Mr. McCain: (Laughs) “Are we on the Straight Talk express? I’m not informed enough on it. Let me find out. You know, I’m sure I’ve taken a position on it on the past. I have to find out what my position was. Brian, would you find out what my position is on contraception - I’m sure I’m opposed to government spending on it, I’m sure I support the president’s policies on it.”

“someone!  quick!!  tell me what i think, before i implode!!!”

oh yeah.  he’ll make a great president -.-
